The Ruralia committee announces with deep mourning the death of its National Representative of Norway, Frode Iversen.
Frode passed away on the 4 October 2022. He fought cancer for a long time, he was able to delay it a little, but in the end he was not able to stop it. Let us sincerely hope that he was able to enjoy his last summer.
Frode became the National Representative of Norway 7 years ago, taking over the baton from Ingvild Øye. Since then he has always been very engaged in Ruralia. We know him as an outstanding medieval archaeologist who has always enriched our conferences and publications with exciting and interesting contributions on Scandinavia. It is thanks to him that we will meet in September 2023 for our next conference in Norway and Sweden. And we know him as a lovely, generous and gentle and very good friend, who has always delighted us with his humour. Now, we sadly have to say goodbye to him. We mourn together with his family. Frode will be sorely missed. We honour a great man, a great medieval scholar and a great friend. May he rest in peace.
